What is SSBICom?

The competition is organised by the Switzerland-based investment comany SinoSwiss Holding and its Chongqing-based business park, SinoSwiss TechnoPark. It is supported by the Municipal Government of Chongqing, the Canton of Zurich, the Swiss Chinese Chamber of Commerce, the British Chamber of Commerce in SW China, and various UK-based chambers of Commerce including Glasgow and Birmingham as well as leading corporate accountancy and law firms PwC and Vischer, amongst other strategic partners.

The high-tech base in the central megacity of Chongqing was developed as a Swiss and Chinese supported business park dedicated to providing state of the art facilities for high tech and service sector companies, especially SMEs and startups. Its in-house services such as B2B matchmaking, and complimentary management and business consultancy, aim to support companies in achieving successful growth in the Chinese market.

Organised by?

The municipality of Chongqing is one of China's key inland logistics hubs. It is a major Yangtze River port able to handle sea-going vessels, the rail-head for the China-Europe Railway, and is home to one of the largest passenger and cargo airports in China. Key projects including the China Singapore Connectivity Project have made it a super-connected hub for inland China linking the region with both Europe and SE Asia.

The municipality is also unique by being one of only four regions which report directly into central government. This effectively cuts out a layer of bureaucracy, and making it a key region for piloting new business policies designed to open up the Chinese economy.

As of 2018, China's President Xi Jinping has prioritised Chongqing as the main economic region to open southwest China to international business.
